Blackstar HT-DRIVE Guitar Effects Pedal

Written by admin on May 26, 2009 – 3:38 pm -

In this distortion pedal review, I am going to be taking a look at the Blackstar HT Series HT-DRIVE pedal. This pedal is definitely one of the warmest sounding tube overdrive pedals that I have ever played.

Blackstar HT-Drive Tube Overdrive Pedal

If you love the sound of an overdriven guitar, then this is the perfect pedal for you. It’s genuine tube design offers tones ranging from a warm boost, to a really nice rocking crunch sound.

The HT-Drive’s A-Class tone control ensures that your playing never appears dull, or diminished by the pedal.

Tube Power: The HT-Drive boasts pure tube overdrive power. It’s high voltage design allows for true playing dynamics and feel. The pedal has two cascaded triode stages that allow it to achieve its wide range of overdrive tones.

Emulated Speaker Output: The HT-Drive is one of the best overdrive pedals around to use if you’re looking to get real life tube tone recorded onto disk or tape.

Sounds Like: The HT-Drive produces sounds reminiscent of classic rock. (Led Zeppelin, Cream, AC/DC etc.)

Conclusion: This pedal is great if you’re looking for a way to achieve true overdriven tube sounds through a solid state amplifier. It will really warm up your sound while also adding a considerable about of boost to your signal. The true tube power teamed up with the high quality speaker output make this pedal a great addition to anyone guitarist’s setup.

i got to use one of these twice. lost the 16v power adaptor and guitar center will not special order it because it’s under one hundred dollars and the people at blackstar will not return emails to get one. i actuallt bought the pedal and had to get it replaced at guitar center twice due to defects straight out of the box. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. guitar center does not give any support to it and blackstar does not give any support. buy a quality american product, i learned my lesson.

I have this pedal and the HT-Dual Distortion. I have a 30 Watt Class A tube amp and the HT-Drive really adds a transparent, natural over-driven tone. The HT-Dual is set for a Marshall tone. Never had any problems after many months and they both sound fantastic. You know the tube in these are at work because after 20 minutes they get warmed-up and get creamier just like a normal tube amp. They come stock with a Sovtek 12AX7 which are fine but I changed them out with Ruby Tubes. Did not make a big difference but just a touch warmer. Not real easy to do and must be done with great care as the tube is in a tight spot. Blackstar does not recommend to open it up for good reason.
