What Effects Pedals do you use?
Written by admin on February 14, 2009 – 5:13 am -It’s always cool to learn about the gear fellow musicians are using. It can help spark some new ideas, or introduce you to a piece of musical equipment you were previously unaware of. I’ll start the discussion off by listing my pedal board lineup, and if anyone wants to chime in, feel free to post your replys in the comment section.
- Distortion/Overdrive
- Boss MT-2 Metal Zone – Provides heavy distortion with high gain, and has extensive EQ controls that allow for advanced sound shaping.
- Boss SD-1 Super Over Drive - This pedal produces a warm sounding tone similar to an over driven, vintage tube amp. It is great because it retains the nuances of your picking style even when playing on a high drive setting.
- Electro-Harmonix Little Big Muff – I use this effects pedal to achieve some great sounding vintage Fuzz tones. It offers great sustain, and a really powerful sound.
- Chorus
- Boss CH-1 Super Chorus – This is a great chorus pedal. It has responsive controls that allow you to create a near limitless amount of chorus tones.
- Delay
- Boss DD-3 Digital Delay – I love this pedal and use it quite often. It produces some awesome guitar delay and has several delay modes to select from.
- Flanger
- Boss BF-2 Flanger – This purple colored pedal is great for getting some real intense flange effects.

Over the course of time, I’ve played and owned many different effects pedals, but these are the ones that have stood the test of time.
So, What are YOU using?!

Well I use:
- Boss Chromatic tuner TU- 2
- Boss Super Chorus CH-1 modified by Rafael Pirela (check this out: http://www.myspace.com/pirelatubeamp)
- Boss DS-1 modified by Rafael Pirela (it’s even better than the keeley DS-1
- Boss Acoustic simulator 3
- Digitech DigiDelay
- Morley Bad Horsie 1
- Digitech Whammy
- A volume gain pedal for solos made by Rafael Pirela
And for last is coming a router made by Pirela too, that allows me to use simultaneously for example boss ds-1 and delay, and with one switch change to boss acoustic simulator 3 and chorus, deactivating ds 1 and delay. It’s really great… Also I can combine it with the foot switch of an amp, and another great thing is that I can use some pedals like delay through de effect channel with an interface.
