I obtained a full set-up of Core X2 cables from Muscian's Friend that they were selling really, really low priced. Core said they had a limited shipment they were selling off before their new line came out. I got 6" gold connectors for like $5, I could not believe it!

The original Core X2's are huge cables, rather unweldy and do not merely coil or drop easily. I use really short ones from my board to to my guitar so it's not been an issue for me. Having a long one of these really thick insulator cables stretching across the stage can be a trip hazard for the impaired.

The cheap pedal connectors at the music store might be good for your budget but you are losing tone. Also By-Pass and Buffer issues, a lot of myths about true by-pass. VS has some great tutorials on by-pass and op-amps everyone should check out to improve their knowledge. A smarter player is a better player.
